Scott Pendlebury played his record-breaking 433rd VFL/AFL game on Saturday afternoon at the MCG, surpassing Brent Harvey's all-time mark in front of a Magpies-Eagles record crowd of 90,028. Collingwood 13.14 (92) defeated West Coast 12.10 (82) by 10 points, a result that lifted the Pies to 5-1-5 and back into the eight. Pendlebury racked up 20 disposals and a kick assist in just his second game back from a five-day rest. Nick Daicos was best on ground with 34 disposals and three goals. Jamie Elliott kicked three and was the second forward to bother the Eagles' back six. Roan Steele added two, Daniel McStay two, Patrick Lipinski one, Edward Allan one and Lachie Schultz one to round out the Magpies' attack.
The Eagles Push the Pies Until the Final Quarter
The story of the day was not all Pendlebury. West Coast, who came in as $4.50 outsiders, kicked 12 goals and had the Magpies under serious pressure through the third quarter. Harley Reid was the Eagles' best with five tackles and 20 disposals. Elliot Yeo finished with three goals from on-ball duty. Malakai Champion kicked two as the recalled small forward. Jake Waterman, Brady Hough, Jobe Shanahan (two), Harvey Johnston, Bailey J Williams and Milan Murdock rounded out the Eagles' goal scorers. The Pies led by three goals at three-quarter time. The Eagles came within striking distance in the final term but Pendlebury's veteran moments in the contest, combined with Crisp's nine-tackle, 28-disposal shift, held the lead. Crisp captained the side in Darcy Moore's continued absence with concussion symptoms.
The Record, the Lap of Honour and the Numbers
The 90,028 attendance is the largest ever for a Magpies-Eagles home-and-away match. Pendlebury played his usual midfield-and-half-forward role across the four quarters and was lifted on the shoulders of teammates as the siren sounded. The lap of honour with his family extended the post-match celebration well into the night. The 433rd game milestone is the new all-time benchmark, surpassing Brent Harvey's 432 which had stood since 2016. Pendlebury, the four-time ANZAC Day Medallist, equalled Harvey's mark at Geelong two weeks ago and made the record his own at the MCG on Saturday.

Collingwood went around as $1.20 favourites and the line at -27.5 fell well short, with the Pies and the Eagles each side of -17.5 trading the closer market line through the third quarter.
