Battle of the Bridge: Sydney vs GWS

Sydney's two AFL clubs. Old money east versus new money west. The Battle of the Bridge has produced some of the highest-quality AFL of the past decade and remains a top-of-the-ladder fixture more often than not.

The history

First played in 2012, the Battle of the Bridge has hosted 27 matches. Sydney lead 18-9. The rivalry intensified through the late 2010s when both sides routinely featured in finals together, including the 2016 Preliminary Final won by the Swans by 36 points. Both clubs share Sydney's AFL footprint and compete fiercely for crowds, members and Harbour City attention.
